Program Description: Success for all Students

Overview

As education reform raises the standards for our primary and secondary public school systems, we need to develop methods to ensure that all students are able to meet these standards. The key issue that this research program will address is the problem of student failure. If we are to change the fate of disadvantaged students, we need to provide the tools, technology, curricula and teacher development that enable teachers to prepare all students for success in life.

Success for all Students will conduct research to develop and test teaching methods that will raise the student success rate in our public schools. By utilizing a case study approach, we will document the obstacles that are preventing failing students from meeting objective standards in the key subject areas of mathematics, reading comprehension and writing skills. Through individual tutoring sessions we will develop and document teaching strategies that enable failing students to succeed in school.
